The 14 competitors, aged from seven to 76, won 14 gold, five silver and five bronze between them in the poomsae (pattern of defence-and-attack motions) and sparring divisions.2017 Hume Leader

The expo was a family affair with four mothers competing alongside their children.

Club founder and Grandmaster Russell Wood, 76, lead the demonstration team and picked up silver in the Amatch poomsae.

Mr Wood said the club’s dominant performance had nothing to do with luck.

“It all comes down to hard work and discipline,” he said.

“I try to impart my years of experience and I get them to go to training seminars to perfect their techniques.”

Mr Wood said the club encouraged the parents and children to train together.

At the expo, the Delia family won the most gold medals in the team.

Mum and black belt Rebecca and her two daughters, blue belt Letischa, 11, and yellow belt Shiloh, 7, achieved two golds each.

Mr Wood said to have one family win six Gold medals in Sparring and Poomsae was “extraordinary”.
