2016 Aust Open CancelCEO Announcement – 2016 Australian Open

After careful deliberation and discussion the Board of STAL and myself have decided to cancel the Australian Open for 2016.

As you are all aware we are in a rebuilding phase after the National merger in 2014. Therefore it is crucial at this time that the effort and resources that we have available are focussed on the key deliverables and core business of STAL.

The resources need to be focussed on completing all of the State Mergers, running an outstanding National Championships and delivering core services that our members expect, especially the coaching, officiating and referee accreditations.

With 2016 also being an Olympic year, the international competition calendar is congested and the top end athletes are focussed on Rio. This has meant that finding a suitable time to hold the Australian Open so that it is well attended and accrues points for our international hopefuls has proved difficult.

There will be a separate selection event for the Poomsae World Championships and this will take place in July. We will be seeking expressions of interest in the very near future.

Thank you for your understanding and continued support and we looking at running a smaller event later in the year.

2016 Marten GirlsThe Olympic Drive for the Marton Girls can now start so we would like not only our Taekwondo people to get behind the girls but everybody who would like to feel part of this wonderful support for our two Australian Taekwondo Olympic representatives.
I would like to think that all our Koryo TKD and Schembris TKD members could donate $5.00 each to lessen the financial burden from the girl’s shoulders.
So as the girls are aware of which clubs are supporting them please use your …clubs name as the reference number when you make you donation.

March Victorian Poomsae Competition

Monday, March 7th, 2016

On Sunday the 12th March Victoria has organised a Poomsae competition to help give our Poomsae players more experience and develop a greater interest in Poomsae. The Koryo TKD Centre has entered a number of first time Competitors in this competition. Unfortunately I hear on the grape vine that Victoria needs more Poomsae Judges to officiate at this competition so that everybody has a positive experience. Could all our Poomsae Judges from TVI, STV and OTU please consider supporting this competition.
If you can help make this competition a successful event please contact Marco on 0403 011 525.
