WTF to Hold International Children’s Art Contest at 2011 World Taekwondo Championships

Friday, March 11th, 2011
Under the WTF’s 2011 slogan “World Peace through Taekwondo,” the WTF will hold an International Children’s Art Contest on the occasion of the 2011 WTF World Taekwondo Championships scheduled for May 1-6, 2011 in Gyeongju, Korea.
The WTF International Children’s Art Contest will help promote world peace, one of the ideals of Olympism, by bringing together creative works by children aged between 10 and 12 years from the WTF’s 192 member nations around the world.
The WTF member national associations are requested to hold their respective art contests to select the best works for their submission to the WTF-designated booth at the competition venue of the 2011 WTF World Taekwondo Championships. Upon submission, the applicants have to submit the WTF application form, which requires to specify the applicant’s name and explanation of the work.
The theme of the art contest is “Peace and Taekwondo” and the size and method of the works are free. Entries should be submitted without frames and should be hand-drawn. Computer prints are not subject to be reviewed and there is no limit to the entries by one member national association.
After thorough screening and selection procedures by the WTF Review Board, the list of prizewinners will be announced through the WTF’s official Web site (www.wtf.org).
The awarding ceremony and exhibition will take place, depending on the number of entries, either at the 6th WTF World Taekwondo Poomsae Championships in Vladivostok, Russia on July 29-31 or during a ceremony in Seoul, Korea to mark the 30th anniversary of the International Day of Peace on September 20, 2011.
Together with the Art Contest, the WTF will also hold a Photo Contest on the occasion of the 2011 World Taekwondo Championships, under the same theme “Peace and Taekwondo.”
Photos can be entered online through the WTF Web site (www.wtf.org/photo) during the championships (May 1-6) and afterwards until the end of May. Photos can also be submitted directly to the WTF Photo Contest booth at the venue of the World Championships. An unlimited number of photos may be entered with no entry fees.
The file name of the photo entered should be the full name. If more than two photos are entered by the same name, the file name should be the full name followed by a two-digit number, for example Full Name_01, Full Name_02.
