Victorian Poomsae Judge Seminar

Sunday, January 30th, 2011

In conjunction with T.V.I’s new Technical Director Derek Upward a Poomsae Judge Seminar is being organised for the 13th March. The presenters at this point of time will be Master  Julius Burai, Master Robert Schembri and Russell Wood all of which received their Poomsae Judge Presenter qualification in 2011. As this will be the first T.V.I Poomsae Judge Seminar since 2009 we hope that it will be well attended as we need to obtain a greater number of Victorian Poomsae Judges. T.V.I will be releasing full details in the near future.

Great news, Koryo’s Shepparton Instructor Sammy Rachele wins Gold and Bronze in India.
Sammy won Bronze in the Individual Poomsae and Gold in the pairs with Linda Schragger from White Studios.
The Koryo Club is extremily proud of  both Sammy and Linda as it was a great effort.
More great news, Jarod O’Gorman from Schembri’s T.K.D wins Bronze in the Individual Poomsae and Pairs, how good is that. Once again we are all very proud of Jarod.
On top of the great success of the Australian Team we have just been advised that Linda Schragger also won Gold in her Individual event, what an effort 2 events 2 Gold just does not get any better than that.
Just been advised on the Australian overall medal count from this competition.
Poomsae: 3 Gold and 6 Bronze
Sparring: 4 Gold and 3 Bronze
Unfortunately we do not have names of all the competitors, however, we would like to congratulate the coach and all the competitors on a job well done.

Koryo Technical Seminar.

Sunday, January 16th, 2011

The Koryo Technical Seminar was conducted on the 16th and 17thJanuary with 40 Taekwondo people from 6 different Victorian Clubs taking part. This Seminar covered the 8 Palgwae forms, the 8 Taegeuk forms plus all the Black Belt forms up to Ilyeo. With the use of 2 Projectors we were able to view not only the D.V.D distributed by the Korean Taekwondo Education Association but we also compared it to the  W.T.F Standard Taekwondo Poomsae D.V.D issued some years earlier. To ensure that all the techniques practiced at the Seminar were up to date the latest Tekwondo Text Book published on the 15th January 2009 was used plus the information gain at the seminars in Korea  attended by Russell Wood in 2010.
I would like to thank Master Instructor Julius Burai, Head Instructor Joyce Stivala for their contribution at the seminar as well as Mr Phillip Frantz for his support.
I would like to apologise to those people who attended on Saturday for not taking a group photo.
